The grizzled nature poet (a documentary), his

long walks in an arroyo. Am I turned off

by couplets? Spasms of reverence

cause me to walk backward through the

congregation. Drums where my thoughts

 

had been. We say so-and-so is now “seeking”

help. Or, “I will take a break on your face.”

We say “rivulets of esteem” and “I’ll have a 7-Up.”

The infant’s yellowed bib hangs like a beard

and contains sonnets.
