Or is it something much smaller than that? It’s overwhelming to understand, but we must fix the little problems first.

We all reach those strange moments where the walls in our house turn to glass and our flies are always down and the unspeakable that we work so hard to conceal unfurls itself like an erection or nipple on live TV. There is often a union drawn between vulnerability and shame, but they don’t need to take the same boat. Inconsequential exposures will not make us hate ourselves. But feeling as though it’s necessary to keep a part of yourself hidden will lead to self-aversion.
