July 22 -
Clear out, foragers. This is a time of taking count, a time of itemizing, a time of liquidating. This is a time for receipts. Chaos has descended, and the only way that you can save yourself is by imposing order. This depends upon decision-making, risk analysis, and settling when the time is right. For a while now, Leo, you’ve picked up off the ground precisely what you’ve needed. You perhaps have a sense that the world can provide, and will. But this is the Holy Mountain. You have to climb alone to the top. Take stock. What you will find at the total line is that what you need requires persistent maintenance, love, and an alert mind.
August 23 -
Could there be anything more doubtful than an awkwardly long unfurling? Like a magician whose hat never stops spitting out the scarf. You might feel like a scarf these days, a long silky magicians’ scarf, waiting for the pay-off: to be pulled fully out, to be complete. But the thing is about a magician’s scarf is that no one is waiting for the end. The revelation of something infinite coming from nowhere is the money moment. Try to focus more on the process of being pulled out, instead of focusing on the eventual end.
September 23 -
It’s getting to the point. The grids are falling hundreds of millions at a time. Each time you go to the store you buy another candle and another can of beans, which you store on the high shelf of your closet. Your actions speak of your current emotional state. Perhaps you’re having a hard time reconciling your feelings to your reality. What is your position in relation to the End Times anyway? Is it really that the world is ending? Or is it something much smaller than that? It’s overwhelming to understand, but we must fix the little problems first.
October 23 -
Perhaps you feel a wee bit exposed. We all reach those strange moments where the walls in our house turn to glass and our flies are always down and the unspeakable that we work so hard to conceal unfurls itself like an erection or nipple on live TV. There is often a union drawn between vulnerability and shame, but they don’t need to take the same boat. Inconsequential exposures will not make us hate ourselves. But feeling as though it’s necessary to keep a part of yourself hidden will lead to self-aversion.
November 22 -
You are spicy hot this month, Sagittarius. You leave a little kick in the mouth. And it’s a good thing, tolerable, even missed among your cohorts. There are long periods of time where you retreat into the unknowable realm of the Sag, where your relationship to reality is a more solitary one. But now you are in the sun-shiny, bad-mouthy, and pleasantly delinquent mode that propelled people to follow you in the first place. But be sure to use your powers for good.
December 22 -
At least there’s reflective paint marking the road from the tumbling death cliffs to either side. It is your pedaling alone that propels the headlight. You chant the mantra: Keep Pumping. That is the only way the path remains navigable. So you feel your thighs burn, and the burning is good. The burning means you can still see. Don’t think about it too much. Persist. Day will turn on in most corners of the planet, and you too will find your rest and your direction.
January 20 -
You are in a prismatic arena, Aquarius. In some ways, you are experiencing the truthiest of truths right now, love, success, a sense of home—but in other ways you know that what you see and what you feel do not match up. You can be easily deceived right now. Not necessarily by others, but by yourself. Is that person you’re dating really attractive? Are you in fact only a corporate speaker box? Have your self-indulgent habits taken a toll on your mindfulness? At the end of the day, you are a pool of wisdom. You can turn inward where the light shoots in one direction. Start here, in your wishing well. Look toward the depths where the coins twinkle. Ask yourself, “What is real?”
February 19 -
There is nothing to do but ride the wading pool, sit in your inner tube and let the machine-made currents carry you. The rapids are intended to gently shift you along a predetermined course. At some points in our lives, we must ride the guiding rapids. Even against our will. This is because something transformative is happening. Something that happens when we have our eyes closed, our asses in the water, bumping gently against the walls. Trust the currents. Trust yourself to end up back at the platform anew.
March 21 -
Usually your surety is not something you question. And while you may be flailing about in a pit of may-or-may-not-be poisonous snakes, you are maintaining your composure with your usual graceful disguise: slicing their heads off, poking their eyes out. But this is not the ideal time to take out your knife and slash about. Instead, sit in your confusion. This is a time to play with the doubt, to hold it in your hands and decorate it with your aesthetic. Being right all the time can have its nuance, and now is a time to embrace the strength that one can find in uncertainty.
April 20 -
Sweet Taurus, you are stepping on ants to put them out of their misery. Picking off the legs of spiders. Tying dental floss around the bodies of bees you’ve caught and frozen only to see them, upon thawing, under your reign, a tiny buzzing balloon of oppression. You are acting out of helplessness. This is a moment when the crushing gravity of mortality, of injustice, of the consequences and benefits of free will add up to an unbelievable zero. What is the point? The point is, the ants know a hell of a lot more than we do.
May 21 -
You’ve been having that feeling that you’re forgetting something for so long now that you can’t quite appreciate the fact that you have it all together. You added the salt, the lime—you even remembered the tomatillo. You’re not missing anything. This is a rare and beautiful gift, though hard to accept when the secret recipe has never been recorded. Of course something is missing. Something has changed. In the oral tradition, we must temper our expectations to taste. You deserve a moment right now to take in the whole of it.
June 21 -
Cancer, you are a young cutting of an old plant waiting to spring anew. There is always a chance in a situation like this that a node won’t pop, that the cutting will be forced to live in a vase of water never to be planted again. Your roots will come, your node will pop, but as of yet, you are not ready to plant. Appreciate the fact that you are in a position to absorb what the spirit water gives you. It’s asking you to try and be stronger so you won’t fail in the soil.
